New Studio
Ive underestimated how much time it takes to move a studio. It has been a monstrous task. Having many heavy or fragile items that needed moving such as my ceramic molds had been a challenge. They are both heavy AND fragile.
What Ive learnt from this experience is that I known more art supplies than all the content of my home. Also, Ive realised I’m not a wasteful person. I still manage to repurpose, reuse of recycle most of my unwanted items.
I found that holding back on spending on new shiny things and working in a new big space has shown me where useful things should be placed.
Its like an artwork. You have the parts, and then the picture becomes clear after thought and contemplation.
I could’ve bought junk from kmart that wont last a year, or I could wait for the perfect vintage solid wood storage shelves to come my way, ready for it to be reused outside of a school library and into a working art studio.
I’ve also hired a carpenter to rip out my 100year old Oregon wood inbuilt workbench and turn it into a movable workbench island on castor wheels... now that is a piece I cant wait to see the end result of.
